East Bay Ranch buyer guide · A different kind of everyday

More outside.
In every season.

A walk through your own woods is one kind of good day. A lake loop, a bay beach, or a Northern Michigan trail is another. East Bay Ranch gives that outdoor-minded life a place to begin.

  • Waterfront walks
  • Four-mile lake loop
  • Woodland outings

The ranch’s own landscape. Regional parks and trails are separate destinations.

01 / Walk, run, or ride

A lake loop with variety.

The four-mile Boardman Lake Loop combines pavement, boardwalk, and gravel around the lake south of downtown. TART describes wooded stretches, bridges, lookout areas, and connections to parks and the library.

Medalie Park, off South Airport Road, is one of the published access points. Choose a full loop or a shorter out-and-back, and check the trail operator’s updates before setting out. This is an area amenity, not a trail connection from the ranch’s boundary.

02 / Into the woods

The Vasa, through the seasons.

On state forest land, the Vasa Pathway offers marked loops used for hiking, running, mountain biking, and cross-country skiing. TART maintains and grooms the pathway under agreement with the Michigan DNR and Grand Traverse County.

Match the trail and surface to your activity and the season. Review current maps, grooming reports, and trail etiquette rather than assuming every route is suitable for every use. Hunting is permitted on DNR land; follow the operator’s seasonal safety guidance.

03 / By the water

A public beach. A town-day ritual.

Clinch Park brings together a beach on West Grand Traverse Bay, a splash pad, a marina, and a TART Trail connection. It is an easy destination to combine with a day exploring downtown.

Treat beach facilities and water activities as seasonal, weather-dependent plans. Check current park information, posted water conditions, access rules, and any rental arrangements. The ranch sale does not include waterfront frontage or private rights at these destinations.

04 / Make a day of it

A bigger landscape to explore.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore adds Lake Michigan scenery, hiking, the Dune Climb, historic places, and the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail to the wider region. The National Park Service recommends beginning at the Philip A. Hart Visitor Center in Empire to plan a visit around your interests.

This is a regional outing, not a claim that the dunes are next door. Check park alerts, passes, seasonal road access, and activity requirements. Use a live route to plan the trip, then come back to the quieter scale of your own acreage.

Before you decide

Make it your own research.

  • Check current trail alerts, weather, and seasonal access before each outing.
  • Choose the right trailhead and confirm parking, passes, and activity rules.
  • Keep regional recreation separate from the property’s own boundaries and access rights.
